To McQ or not to McQ?

The arrival of Alexander McQueen‘s less expensive diffusion line McQ is imminent (in stock starting from June).  However, I’m rather undecided as to whether or not I like it and whether I will buy anything.  I’d be curious to see how the reaction from the general public is and whether it will be an instant hit because I think the pieces he has designed are very accessible but since the influence is the rockabilly 60’s English film noir, one wonders whether you could get the look on the cheap.  With a price range on par with Miu Miu, and Marc by Marc Jacobs (USD181 for jeans, USD300 for dresses), there’s also a question of the quality of the items – a little birdie has told me that the quality is horrendous up close!

These are the items that I’m vaguely interested in.  I love the photos, the inspiration behind the collection and the overall ‘look’ of if but I’m on the fence about actually wearing any of it….

  1. Someone I know went to the buyer’s showroom and handled the garments up close and told me….. but I’ll judge when it’s out in stores. It can’t all be bad!

  2. I actually worked on this photoshoot for the McQ lookbook. I assist Toyin, who shot the lookbook and Campaign at her council house in willesden green. David James art directed and Nicola Formicheti styled it. It was a fun few days.
