>> Liberty has really been mining its print heritage what with all the Prints Charming shenanigans last year and now for spring summer 2010, they're using Flower Power to their advantage with many a collaboration on it way with Liberty of London's collab with Milan's 10 Corso Como already underway.
I'm most excited to have nabbed a sneak peek of an upcoming marriage between Liberty Art Fabrics and…. Nicholas Kirkwood… as if I needed to even type that out because the shape here is plain to see and pretty much instantly recognisable.
Kirkwood has chosen two prints; Bounty, a print of exotic parrot tulips and Santa Maria, a herringone tea dress print from the early 90s. The Bounty and Santa Maria prints (pictured below) will feature on the cut out detail sandal style and the Santa Maria print will also feature on a classic pump with a rose lacquer heel (doesn't the words "rose lacquere heel" sound incredibly tactile in itself… like you want to reach out and touch said lacquer immediately…).
It's interesting to see that whilst Kirkwood has lent a similar sandal style to Louise Gray for her A/W 09 collection and now to Liberty, that they both still come off looking very much like a Kirkwood shoe and that the shape is still very much the driving force. See you in Liberty at the end of May when these drop into store. I won't be able to fight you for them but please do let me touch that lacquer heel for a bit.
