>> The is apparently my default way of getting snapped (or pity papped) and as some of the street style snaps from haute couture have emerged, I had to chortle at the fact that in every instance, the trail of thoughts that was running through my head as I’m furiously scrolling on Twitter went something like this…
Outside Versace Atelier after the show: “Have Grazia come up with a snappy name for those ballgown/swimsuit hybrids? Charles James meets Eres? Must search Chowhound for brasserie tips near Palais Royal… hmmm… steak. STEAK. With a gigantic plop of bearnaise. Twitter check “Sanchez”. Have we signed Alexis Sanchez yet? Of fuck, Juventus might hijack the deal. Steak. Sanchez. PLEASE MAKE IT HAPPEN!”
After Giambattista Valli show, waiting for Phil Oh and Tommy Ton to be done done with the papping so we can go get some roast Chinese meats: “Is Miramar in Paris really the best roast duck to be had? Chowhound must have better recommendations… Giambattista Valli’s Twtiter/Instagram handle search – confused – are these official or not? Would it be wrong to say that Valli raided the world of ostrich feathers for those four finale gowns? Hate myself for going on Daily Mail sports pages but need football transfer gossip to kill time. WHY HAVE WE NOT SIGNED SANCHEZ YET? Oh, go away Liverpool. He AIN’T interested!”
Waiting outside of Armani Prive for Tommy Ton to be done so we can stop by Fendi store opening: “Tulle tulle tulle. Wonder if I could one day walk around looking like La Isla Bonita themed shower pouf a la AW14 Prive. Wonder if I can slope off early during the dinner tonight to watch the Brazil vs. Germany match… Another day, another Sanchez Twitter search. WHY HAS IT NOT BEEN ANNOUNCED YET? Why has his flight from Spain to London for his medical apparently taken three days? This railing is hurting my bum…”
So erm yes. In Paris, inter-show thoughts this season at couture basically revolved around Chowhound and Alexis Sanchez. If you’re an Arsenal fan, you’ll know that we did indeed sign Sanchez. Everyone else of course won’t remotely care.
